Here Comes Ben headed back to Keeneland base Trainer Charles Lopresti, who picked up his first Grade 1 victory when HERE COMES BEN (Street Cry [Ire]) won Saturday's Forego S. (G1), reported that his colt was doing well Sunday morning. "He was a little tired, but his legs and everything look good," Lopresti. said. Currently stabled in Eoin Harty's barn at Saratoga, Here Comes Ben will return to Keeneland on Wednesday, with his connections to decide later where he'll make his next start. "We'll bring him to Keeneland and evaluate," Lopresti said. "The Breeders' Cup (at Churchill Downs on November 6) is our goal." Godolphin Racing's VINEYARD HAVEN (Lido Palace [Chi]) and GIROLAMO (A.P. Indy), who comprised an even-money coupled entry in the Forego, exited the race in good shape, according to Rick Mettee, assistant to trainer Saeed bin Suroor. Entering the Forego off a victory in the James Marvin S. on July 23, Vineyard Haven stalked the pace from post position 2 and raced evenly in the stretch to finish third. "With Vineyard Haven, we're a little disappointed in him," Mettee said. "He didn't exactly pull the trip we expected, being down along the inside. In the end, being third, beaten 2 1/4 lengths, is not a bad race, given the competition" Winner of the 2009 Jerome H. (G2), Girolamo was fifth in the Forego, his first start following a last-of-12 performance in the Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) in November. "Girolamo got a little tired," Mettee said. "Cornelio (Velasquez) said he gave a good six furlongs and got tired in the last part, which wasn't surprising. He should improve off this race. He was beaten about four or five lengths, which is about right against these horses." Plans for both horses will be determined at a later date. Trainer Todd Pletcher reported that BRIBON (Fr) (Mark of Esteem [Ire]), who finished sixth in the Forego, shed his left front frog and would miss about 10 days of training. Bribon would need to be supplemented to the Breeders' Cup. Should he not go in the Breeders' Cup, the Kelso H. (G2) on October 3 at Belmont Park and the Cigar Mile H. (G1) at Aqueduct on November 27 would be likely alternates. Pletcher added that CHECKLIST (Gone West), who finished last in the Forego after setting the early pace, appears to have come back all right.
