Mare writing her own Story at Hollywood Prior to Sunday, George Krikorian's HOLLYWOOD STORY (Wild Rush) boasted only three career victories, but all three came in graded events at Hollywood Park. Returning to her obviously favored track on Sunday, the dark bay mare continued the trend of taking major Hollywood events with a half-length score in the $300,000 Vanity Invitational H. (G1) under David Flores. The 1 1/8-mile fast dirt test was delayed for some time as Star Parade (Arg) (Parade Marshal), who entered her post 5 in good order, suddenly started kicking. The seven-year-old veteran got one of her hind legs stuck in the back door for a second but the gate crew quickly opened the door and backed her out. The track veterinarian just as quickly scratched the dark bay mare, but the anxious moments weren't over yet. All of the field was backed out of the gate and walked around for a while as the ambulance was brought up so the paramedics could attend to one of the gate crew. His condition was not known as of press time. Finally loaded back in the gate, Healthy Addiction (Boston Harbor) had plenty of pent up energy to expend, and she did so when the doors opened, springing right to the front. Closely tracked by Proposed (Benchmark) and Sharp Lisa (Dixieland Band), Healthy Addiction set splits of :22 4/5, :45 3/5 and 1:09 4/5. Hollywood Story and Flores were content to settle in fifth at the beginning, but began to rapidly make up ground on the backstretch. Challenging Healthy Addiction for the lead on the turn, Hollywood Story took over through a mile in 1:35 and appeared ready to draw off. However, the John Shirreffs trainee began to drift out toward the center of the track and Healthy Addiction wasn't throwing in the towel. As the wire approached, Flores straightened Hollywood Story, and the pair held on to stop the clock in 1:48 2/5. Sent off the 5-2 third choice, Hollywood Story was worth $7.20, $3.40 and $2.80 while starting the $11.80 exacta ($1). Healthy Addiction was much the best of the rest, returning $3.60 and $3 at 5-2 for finishing six lengths in front of Sharp Lisa, who paid $3.60 and ended the $43.30 trifecta ($1) at 7-1. Proposed was another 1 1/2 lengths back in fourth as the 7-5 favorite, and was followed by Freakin Streakin (Tactical Advantage) and Bardy Woman (Unusual Heat). Hollywood Story added this one to wins in the 2003 Hollywood Starlet S. (G1), where she broke her maiden, the 2004 Bayakoa H. (G2) and last year's Hawthorne H. (G3). Her 10 graded placings include the American Invitational Oaks (G1) as well as the past two editions of the Santa Maria H. (G1). With the winner's share of this one, the dark bay five-year-old became racing's newest millionaire, now owning a 24-4-6-5 career mark and $1,123,105 in lifetime earnings. Bred in Kentucky by Vinery, Hollywood Story was bought by her current owner for $130,000 as a Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July yearling. The first registered foal out of the stakes-placed Wife for Life (Dynaformer), she has an unraced juvenile half-sister named Cut the Cake (Diesis [GB]) and a 2006 half-sister by A.P. Indy.
