Indian is Fleet in Delaware Paul H. Saylor's FLEET INDIAN (Indian Charlie) entered Sunday's $1,001,200 Delaware H. (G2) with five straight wins and racked up yet another dominating victory when crossing the wire 5 1/2 lengths ahead of her nearest rival in the 1 1/4-mile test. The Todd Pletcher-trained five-year-old joined the exclusive millionaires' set when adding the winner's share to her earnings, now boasting $1,104,513 in accumulated purse money to go along with a 16-11-0-1 record. Quickest of all from the gate from the rail post, Fleet Indian and jockey Jose Santos claimed the lead while just off the rail, setting splits of :23 4/5, :48 1/5, 1:12 2/5 and 1:37. Never challenged at any point, Fleet Indian sailed over the fast dirt to stop the clock in 2:02, rewarding her backers with payouts of $2.80, $2.20 and $2.10 as the 2-5 favorite. Dynamic Deputy (Deputy Minister) came out three wide to begin her rally, taking to the center of the track and getting the best of stablemate Take a Check (Touch Gold) by 1 3/4 lengths at the wire. Take a Check tracked Fleet Indian throughout, but could never catch the winner and eventually weakened slightly while still holding third by a half-length over fellow stablemate Sticky (Concern). Coupled in the wagering, the three Richard Small horses were sent off at 7-1, and Dynamic Deputy and Take a Check each paid $3.60 and $4 while ending the $10.80 exacta. Friel's For Real (Sword Dance [Ire]) was another 2 1/4 lengths back and completed the 2-1-5 trifecta that paid $36. La Reason (Labeeb [GB]) came next and was followed by Carmandia (Wild Rush) and Fin (GB) (Groom Dancer). Gallant Secret (Menifee) broke down on the backstretch and did not finish. Grant's Moon (Malibu Moon) was a post parade scratch. Fleet Indian began her current win streak in the Montauk H. last year while in the shedrow of James Toner. She made one start for Clifford Sise Jr. next out, taking an allowance at Philadelphia Park by 5 3/4 lengths, then entered Pletcher's barn and continued her winning ways in the Next Move H. (G3). She recorded a dominating 12 1/2-length victory in the Sixty Sails H. (G3) in late April and geared up for this one with a 7 3/4-length score in the Obeah H. over the track. Bred in New York by Thomas/Lakin, the dark bay mare is out of the Afleet mare Hustleeta and brought a bid of $290,000 at this year's Keeneland January sale.
