Ready's Gal makes good use of Matchmaker James Scatuorchio's READY'S GAL (More Than Ready) kicked clear in the final furlongs to emerge victorious in Sunday's $150,000 Matchmaker S. (G3) at Monmouth Park. The Todd Pletcher trainee trailed in second as Humoristic (Sefapiano) clocked opening pedestrian fractions in :25 2/5, :50 1/5 and 1:14 1/5. Jockey John Velazquez sent his mount to the lead as the field entered the stretch to hold a 1 1/2-length margin at a mile in 1:37 2/5. Holding off Prop Me Up (Reparations), who was finishing up gamely on the inside, Ready's Gal completed the 1 1/8-mile firm-turf affair in 1:48 3/5. Sent off as the near 3-1 second choice, Ready's Gal gave back $7.80, $4.60 and $4.40. Prop Me Up hit the wire a half-length back, returning $9 and $5 at 10-1 while ending a $79.40 exacta. Humoristic held on to third, paying $8 and completing the $516 trifecta ($1) (3-2-1) at 9-1. Smart N Classy (Smart Strike), Marchonin (Dixieland Band), Tisket a Tasket (Broad Brush) and Frambroise (GB) (Diesis [GB]) completed the order of finish. Masseuse (Dynaformer) stumbled leaving the gate, was pulled up and vanned off the track. Bred in Kentucky by Alex Rankin and Louis Wright, Ready's Gal is out of multiple stakes winner Exquisite Mistress (Nasty and Bold), and is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Go Scotty (Bold Ruckus) and the unraced Guilty Pleasure (Pine Bluff), herself the dam of Fantasy S. (G2) heroine Ready to Please (More Than Ready). Exquisite Mistress has most recently produced a yearling colt by Proud Citizen and a 2006 colt, also by More Than Ready. Purchased for $120,000 at the 2003 Keeneland September Yearling Sale, Ready's Gal has amassed $448,755 in earnings with a 15-6-2-1 record. Earlier this year she captured the Hillsborough S. (G3) and annexed the Lake George S. (G3) in 2005.
