Any Limit wires Hurricane Bertie Joseph V. Shields Jr.'s homebred ANY LIMIT (Limit Out) took command at the half-mile mark and fought off a game late challenge from My Lucky Free (Mazel Trick) to capture the $108,500 Hurricane Bertie H. (G3) at Gulfstream Park on Saturday. Breaking sharply under Rafael Bejarano, the four-year-old miss ran with the pace throughout, taking over through four furlongs in :45 2/5 and six panels 1:10 2/5, prior to completing the fast track, 6 1/2-furlong affair in a sharp 1:17. Trained by Allen Jerkens, who captured the Sabin H. (G3) earlier in the day with Swap Fliparoo (Exchange Rate), the winner was sent off as the 8-5 choice and paid out $5.40, $3.40 and $3.20 in earning her second graded win at the meet. My Lucky Free emerged as a live threat turning for home but could not get past the top one, finishing 1 1/4 lengths behind in a fine performance off a near four-month absence. The chestnut paid $5 and $4.60 and finished off the $16.20 exacta ($1) at 5-1. Stolen Prayer (Songandaprayer) made up ground late to earn third, capping the $239.10 trifecta ($1) as the 43-1 longshot. Coli Bear (Formal Dinner) concluded the $2,298 superfecta ($1) (8-2-6-3) at 11-1, and was followed by 9-2 second choice Stormy Kiss (Arg) (Bernstein), Flying Circle (Pembroke), Actslikealady (Lord Carson), A Sea Trippi (Trippi), Atlas Valley (Capote) and early leader Contrast (Unbridled). Any Limit now sports a lifetime mark of 14-6-0-3, $264,774. The bay captured the First Lady H. (G3) in her latest start, and also owns a score in the My Flag S. The Kentucky-bred miss is out of the winning Clandestinely (Forty Niner).
