Attila Storms to Toboggan victory ATTILA'S STORM (Forest Wildcat) ended a six-race winless skein, annexing the $105,100 Toboggan H. (G3) at Aqueduct on Saturday. The five-year-old horse took command as they turned for home and drew off impressively to post a 1 1/4-length win. The $64,260 winner's share increased Attila's Storm's earnings to $459,983 for owners Barry K. Schwartz, Wachtel Stable, Double S Stable and Nils Brouse. Sent off the 2-5 favorite in the six-furlong fixture of the Aqueduct Winter meet, Attila's Storm broke sharply but was soon stalking Kelp (Sea of Secrets), who rushed up on the inside and took the five-horse field through quick fractions of :21 4/5 and :44 1/5. Attila's Storm never lost touch with Kelp and, when asked, easily assumed the lead as they passed the three-eighths marker. The issue was never in doubt as the winner went on to stop the clock on the fast inner dirt in 1:10. Trained by Richard Schosberg and ridden beautifully by Ramon Dominguez, the multiple Grade 1-placed winner moved his record to 16-5-3-3 and paid $2.90, $2.20 and $2.10. "He actually held off a pretty nice horse who likes this track," Schosberg said. "I'm very pleased with the effort. It's about time we got back to the winner's circle with him. We'll take a look at the (April 7) Carter (G1)." "I committed myself because (Eibar) Coa (aboard Kelp) was the only other speed in the race," said Dominguez, explaining his ride. "His horse was starting to get out pretty badly, but by that time, it was too late; I wasn't going to take back and go inside. I was committed to sitting outside and I knew the fractions were suicidal. I was definitely nervous the last sixteenth. He had run so fast and was getting tired. He showed his class." Wild Jam (Forest Wildcat) closed willingly for the runner-up spot, beaten 1 1/4 lengths at the wire, to complete the $9.50 exacta. The six-year-old gelding, who now boasts eight in the money finishes from nine starts at Aqueduct, was able to cut into Attila's Storm's margin but did not seriously threaten the winner, paying $3.50 and $2.80 at 7-1. Pavo (Marquetry), last in the field to the top of the stretch, passed tiring rivals to pick up the third spot, returning $3.00 to show. Completing the order of finish were Introspect (In Case) and Kelp. Cavallo Pazzo (Mt. Livermore) was withdrawn. The winner was bred in Kentucky by Lajos Kengye and is the third registered foal from the Magesterial mare Sweet Symmetry, who has also produced an unnamed juvenile colt and a yearling colt named Perfect Treasure, both by Cat Thief. Attila's Storm is the lone stakes winner for his dam, having previously won the 2005 Fall Highweight H.
