The veil lifts for Indian Making her first start in more than 10 months, Melnyk Racing Stables Inc.'s homebred INDIAN VALE (A.P. Indy) scored a wire-to-wire, 5 1/2-length victory in the $104,800 Next Move H. (G3) over Aqueduct's fast inner track on Saturday. The chestnut mare broke cleanly on the inside and dictated the race from there, setting fractions of :23 4/5, :48 1/5, 1:12 4/5 and 1:37 2/5 before finishing 1 1/8 miles in 1:50 2/5 under jockey Mike Luzzi. Sent off the 1-2 favorite, the Todd Pletcher charge returned $3, $2.40 and $2.10 while spearheading the $11 exacta and $47.80 trifecta (1-3-5). Runner-up A True Pussycat (Yes It's True) finished 8 1/4 lengths clear of her nearest competitor, giving back $4.20 and $2.80 at 6-1. Daytime Promise (Five Star Day) was worth $3.40 in third as the 17-1 longshot. Finishing out the order under the wire were Dina (Dynaformer) and Lexi Star (Crypto Star). Rahys' Appeal (Rahy) was scratched. Indian Vale earned her first win since 2005 in this one. Previously, the chestnut took the 2005 Falls City H. (G2) and Turnback the Alarm H. (G3) before running a distant fifth in the Shuvee H. (G2) in her only start of 2006. "Coming back off a layoff, when you have high regards for a filly like this, you would like her to come back and show what she's done in the past," assistant trainer Seth Benzel said. "Any time they come in off a layoff, you don't want to squeeze them all the way. It will be interesting to see what Todd (Pletcher) will do with her." Bred in Canada, Indian Vale is the first registered foal out of Grade 1 stakes heroine Marley Vale (Forty Niner). She is a full sister to the unraced two-year-old Clifton Hall and a half-sister to an unnamed yearling filly by Storm Cat.
