High Heels struts her stuff in Fantasy Anita Ebert's homebred HIGH HEELS (E Dubai) raced second to last in the early going of Friday's $250,000 Fantasy S. (G2) at Oaklawn Park, but was in front when it really mattered -- at the wire. With jockey Joe Johnson holding the reins, the Gary Hartlage-trained bay miss easily defeated seven rivals as the 9-1 fourth choice to return $21, $5.80 and $3.80. Jay's Princess (Syncline) grabbed the lead through a quarter in :22 2/5, but couldn't hold on as Devil House (Chester House) rushed up to take over. The pacesetter set splits of :46 1/5 and 1:12 1/5, all the while tracked by 1-2 favorite Cotton Blossom (Broken Vow). As the field entered the turn, Cotton Blossom began her move, circling the leader and taking over, but only for a brief moment. Commencing her rally up the rail and then angling out for the drive, High Heels easily overtook the public's choice and pulled clear by 6 3/4 lengths to finish 1 1/16 miles over the fast dirt in 1:44 2/5. Cotton Blossom was best of the rest, taking second by 1 3/4 lengths to end the $53.60 exacta while paying $2.40 and $2.20. Cash Included (Include) was worth $2.60 at 3-1, finishing the $121.20 trifecta, and was followed by Swift Temper (Giant's Causeway), who completed the $1,005.40 superfecta (1-2-3-5). Finishing the order under the wire were Time's Mistress (Mr. Greeley), Devil House, Tensas Yucatan (Ide) and Jay's Princess. High Heels earned her first stakes win here, having finished second in the Honeybee S. prior to this start. She also ran third in the Golden Rod S. (G2) at Churchill Downs last season, and now boasts a 10-3-2-3 career mark and doubled her earnings to $266,648. The Kentucky-bred lass is the first registered foal out of the stakes-winning Ornate (Gilded Time), who has also produced an unraced juvenile filly named French Kiss (Hussonet) and an unnamed yearling filly by Yonaguska.
