David Junior will enter stud in Japan Three-time Group 1 winner DAVID JUNIOR (Pleasant Tap) has been sold to the Japan Racing Association in a deal brokered by John Tyrrell of BBA Ireland, and the four-year-old colt will enter stud at the JBBA Shizunai Stallion Station in 2007. Trained by Brian Meehan, David Junior earned his first important success in last fall's Champion S. (Eng-G1) and has won two of three starts in 2006, with victories in the Dubai Sheema Classic (UAE-G1) and Eclipse S. (Eng-G1). He is preparing for his dirt debut in the Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) at Churchill Downs on November 4. "We concluded the deal to sell David Junior to Japan this morning," Roldvale's Racing Manager Eamon Connolly told the Racing Post on Wednesday. "We are delighted to have found him a very good home, and we shall all be sorry to see him go." Tyrrell added, "What interests them is that he's an outcross to Northern Dancer and Mr. Prospector, he was a two-year-old winner and his optimum trip was 10 furlongs. They, like the rest of the world, feel that is the optimum winning distance for stud purposes."
