Star Dabbler to stand at Richland Hills Grade 2 winner STAR DABBLER (Saint Ballado) has been retired and will enter stud at Nathan Fox's Richland Hills near Midway, Kentucky. He will stand for a live foal fee of $7,500, due November 1 of the year bred. Star Dabbler won or placed in all seven of his career starts and earned $319,936 from a record of 7-3-3-1. After breaking his maiden at Belmont Park and defeating winners at Saratoga, the bay colt ran second to Henny Hughes (Hennessy) in the King's Bishop S. (G1). In what turned out to be his final career start, he finished in a dead-heat for first in the Indiana Derby (G2) on October 7. Star Dabbler is out of Meadow Silk (Meadowlake), a half-sister to Canadian champion Silken Cat (Storm Cat), who is herself the dam of 2004 champion sprinter and Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) hero Speightstown (Gone West). He is a full brother to Run Production, a stakes-winning sire, and Bay Head King, a stakes-placed winner of $210,713. "Star Dabbler is one of the best looking young sire prospects that I have seen," Fox said. "His female family could prove to be very important when Speightstown's first foals reach the races and Saint Ballado is proving to be a solid sire of sires through his sons Sweetsouthernsaint and Straight Man in Florida. All anyone has to do is watch this horse's last four starts in order to see just how talented and courageous a racehorse he was and stop by the farm to see what a terrific individual he is. I am very excited about his future at Richland Hills."
