Achilles of Troy preps for Gotham

Two-time stakes hero ACHILLES OF TROY (Notebook) breezed five

furlongs in 1:02 4/5 over a fast inner track at Aqueduct on Wednesday in

preparation for an expected start in the Gotham S. (G3) on March 18. The Jennifer Pedersen trainee is

undefeated in two starts this season, winning the Count Fleet S. by 14 lengths

on January 7 and the Whirlaway S. by 4 3/4 lengths on February

11.

For the second consecutive week, Achilles of Troy worked without blinkers

beneath jockey Ramon Dominguez.

"It was just like last week," Dominguez said. "He was aggressive going to the

pole which shows he's feeling good, but once he gets going he's very laid back.

It's like he's got one long stride all the way around.

"I feel very fortunate to have the chance to ride him. It's great to be at

Aqueduct in the winter where you don't necessarily think you'll land on a top

three-year-old."

Achilles of Troy could meet CHURCH SERVICE (Pulpit), DEPUTY GLITTERS (Deputy

Commander), GREELEY'S LEGACY (Mr. Greeley), KEYED ENTRY (Honour and Glory), LIKE

NOW (Jules) ONE WAY FLIGHT (Precise End), SUNSHINE ALPINE (Gold Case), and SWEETNORTHERNSAINT (Sweetsouthernsaint) in the 1 1/16-mile Gotham on the inner

track.
