Arlington Park to host 94 days of racing
The Illinois Racing Board (IRB) granted Arlington Park 94 racing dates in
2007. The meet will run from May 4 through September 16, 2007
From opening day through June 16, Arlington Park will race four days per week
(Thursdays through Sundays). Beginning on June 17, the track will race five days
per week (Wednesdays through Sundays). There will also be special holiday racing
on Memorial Day, May 28, and Labor Day, September 3.
"By racing four days a week during May and the first two weeks of June, we're
confident that we'll have larger fields running for higher purses during that
time frame," Arlington Park President Roy Arnold said.
Additionally, the IRB designated Arlington Park as the host track for
simulcasting from January 2 through February 15, when there is no live
Thoroughbred racing in Illinois.
Hawthorne received 119 racing dates, from February 23 through May 3, and from
September 21 through December 31.
Fairmount Park was awarded 90 racing dates, from March 6 through September
29.
