Balance favored in final Kentucky Oaks future pool

BALANCE (Thunder Gulch), the favorite for Saturday's Ashland S.

(G1) at Keeneland, looms as a solid favorite in the final pool of the Kentucky

Oaks (G1) Future Wager, which launches its four-day run on Thursday. The David

Hofmans trainee is listed at 7-2 favorite on the morning line. The bay filly

won the Las Virgenes S. (G1) and Santa Anita Oaks (G1) in her first two starts

of the season.

The mutuel field, which includes all three-year-old fillies

other than the 23 individual wagering interests, is the 5-1 second choice in

Pool 3. Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) runner-up WILD FIT (Wild Wonder),

who finished second in the Las Virgenes and third in the Santa Anita Oaks, is

next at 8-1 on the morning line. The remaining wagering interests are all at

odds of 12-1 or higher.

There are nine new wagering interests in Pool 3 of the Kentucky

Oaks Future Wager: Martha Washington S. winner BROWNIE POINTS (Forest Wildcat),

who finished second in the Honeybee S. in her last start; Florida Oaks winner

BUSHFIRE (Louis Quatorze), Honeybee winner ERMINE (Exchange Rate), Forward Gal

S. (G2) winner MIRACULOUS MISS (Mr. Greeley), Santa Anita Oaks runner-up QUIET

KIM (Real Quiet), Gulfstream Park allowance winner READY TO PLEASE (More Than

Ready), WinStar/Sunland Park Oaks winner SWEET FOURTY (Sweetsouthernsaint),

Bonnie Miss S. (G2) winner TEAMMATE (A.P. Indy), Bourbonette Breeders' Cup S.

(G3) winner TOP NOTCH LADY (Sultry Song).

Top Notch Lady and Brownie Points are not nominated to the

Kentucky Oaks, but trainer Mark Casse plans to make Top Notch Lady a

supplemental entry to the race at a cost of $25,000. Trainer Donnie Von Hemel

said Brownie Points could also be supplemented to the Kentucky Oaks if she runs

well in the Fantasy S. (G2) at Oaklawn Park on April 14.
