Harry Aleo's LOST IN THE FOG (Lost Soldier) broke sharply from the gate to

take command early, shook off a slight challenge at the head of the stretch and

pulled away to an easy 4 1/4-length win in the $150,000

Bay Shore S. (G3) at

Aqueduct on Saturday. Ridden by Russell Baze, the sophomore colt cut out splits

of :22 3/5 and :45 1/5 for the opening half-mile before completing the

seven fast-track furlongs in 1:21 1/5 for trainer Greg Gilchrist. Hammered at the

windows to 1-9 odds, the Florida bred gave back $2.30 and $2.10, while show

wagering was not offered.

White Socks (Belong to Me) closed strongly on the inside to gain the black-type placing, worth $2.10 at 9-1. The winning exacta

paid $7.70. Big Top

Cat (Storm Cat), who was on the flank of the winner until the top of the

stretch, held on for the show at 10-1, completing the $26.20 trifecta.

Lieutenant Danz (Gold Fever) was next and trailed by Benjamin Baby (Forest

Wildcat) and Soldier's Charge (Lost Soldier), while Attila's Storm (Forest

Wildcat) was withdrawn.

Lost in the Fog remains unbeaten after five starts, and virtually untested,

in bumping his bankroll to $362,075. He previously annexed the Swale S. (G2),

Sunshine Millions Dash and Arizona Juvenile S.

The winner was bred in the Sunshine State by Susan Seper and was purchased

for the bargain price of $48,000 at the 2003 OBS August Yearling Sale. He was

produced from the unraced Cloud Break (Dr. Carter) and has an unraced

two-year-old half-brother named My Little Devil (Devil's Bag).

Gilchrist said Lost in the Fog would return to Golden Gate Fields, where he's

based, and would likely run again next month in California.
