MEGAHERTZ (GB) (Pivotal) personifies the term "late runner."

The diminutive mare started off the year in the Santa Ana H. (G2), coming

from last to score by a half-length, and followed that up with her third

consecutive Santa Barbara H. (G2) victory, once again rallying from seventh and last

to post a three-quarter of a length win. On Saturday, the Bobby Frankel-trained

chestnut ran her 2005 record to a perfect three-for-three while taking the

Beverly Hills H. (G2) by three parts of a length after racing a majority of the

contest last in a

six-horse field.

Breaking in the back, Megahertz settled into the familiar position under

jockey Alex Solis and was content to follow as Five Nickels (Quiet American) cut

out fractions of :25, :49 2/5, 1:13 4/5 and 1:37 4/5. As the field entered the

turn, Solis gave his mount a nudge and she took off. Moving between horses,

Megahertz exploded coming out of the turn, kicking clear and holding off all

challengers to complete 1 1/4 miles on the firm Hollywood Park turf in 2:01 3/5.

Sent off the heavy 2-5 favorite while carrying the colors of owner Michael

Bello, Megahertz paid out $2.80, $2.20 and $2.10 while starting the $5.50 exacta

($1). Winendynme (Dynaformer) moved up to take second by a half-length and

returned $3.20 and $2.10 at 6-1. Halo Ola (Arg) (Southern Halo) tracked just in

behind the early pace at 7-1 and gave back $2.10 while ending the $22.60

trifecta ($1). Five Nickels followed by another length and finishing the order

under the wire were Agata (Fr) (Poliglote [GB]) and Uraib (Ire) (Mark of Esteem

[Ire]).

With this win, Megahertz has now accumulated $1,811,594 in lifetime earnings

and boasts a 31-13-5-5 career mark. Besides the aforementioned wins, she has also

scored in the John C. Mabee H. (G1), Honeymoon Breeders' Cup H. (G2), San

Gorgonio H. (G2), American Invitational Oaks, Providencia S., Some Sensation S.

and Blue Norther S. Among her many placings are runner-up finishes in the Gamely

Breeders' Cup H. (G1), Del Mar Oaks (G1) and Hollywood Turf Cup S. (G1), with

the last coming as a close head against the boys last year.

Bred in Great Britain by Cheveley Park Stud Ltd., the six-year-old mare is

out of the winning Heavenly Ray (Rahy).
