Bob and John heads Baffert trio in San Felipe

Last updated: 3/16/06 6:16 PM

Sham S. (G3) victor BOB AND JOHN (Seeking the Gold) is the top draw for

Saturday's $250,000 San Felipe S. (G2) at Santa Anita. One of three entrants for

trainer Bob Baffert, the Grade 1-placed colt is the only stakes winner in the

nine-horse field. The likely favorite is two for two this year and will break

from post 5 in the 1 1/16-mile test with Victor Espinoza.

POINT DETERMINED (Point Given) and SKY DIVING (Aptitude) are Bob and John's

uncoupled stablemates. Point Determined will make his stakes debut after

capturing an allowance/optional claiming event at Golden Gate Fields last out.

Sky Diving, a 14-length maiden winner at Bay Meadows two starts back, exits a runner-up finish

in the Turf Paradise Derby.

Other contenders include the Richard Mandella-trained REFINERY (Victory

Gallop), who exits a two-turn allowance win over the track, and A. P. WARRIOR (A.P.

Indy), who has been switched to conditioner John Shirreffs and will attempt to

reinvigorate his Kentucky Derby (G1) prospects following a fourth-place finish

as the even-money favorite in the El Camino Real Derby (G3).

The nine San Felipe contestants, in post position order, are Point

Determined, Garrett Gomez; RACKETEER (Awesome Again), Pat Valenzuela; A. P.

Warrior, Corey Nakatani; Refinery, Tyler Baze; Bob and John; NEW JOYSEY JEFF

(Bright Launch), Alex Solis; BLAZING SUNSET (Talk Is Money), Felipe Martinez;

Sky Diving, David Flores; and SIMON PURE (Silver Deputy), Jon Court.
