'Breeders' Cup or Bust' traverses Kentucky for charity
The Breeders' Cup and the Paulick Report are teaming up for
the second year in a row to raise funds for Breeders' Cup Charities through the
initiative "Breeders' Cup or Bust."
Paulick Report founder, Ray Paulick, and his business partner Brad
Cummings will walk from Lexington to Louisville in Kentucky,
culminating at the 2010 Breeders' Cup World Championships at
Churchill Downs, November 5-6. The charities they will be raising money for include The V
Foundation for Cancer Research, the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund and
Thoroughbred Charities of America.
Last year's "Breeders' Cup or Bust" raised $75,000 for
Breeders' Cup Charities in a cross-country drive from Lexington to Santa Anita
in California
for the 26th Breeders' Cup, stopping at five
racetracks along the way.
"Breeders' Cup or Bust" will begin its nine-day journey at Keeneland on October 27 and will arrive in Louisville
on November 4.
Accompanied by a fully branded RV and sporting jockey silks, the team will be
stopping along the way to raise money and awareness for the charities, and guest
walkers will also join them at different stages. The Paulick Report will be
chronicling its journey at
"We established Breeders' Cup Charities two years ago in
large part to participate in programs that raise money and call attention to
great causes like the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund, The V Foundation and
TCA," Breeders' Cup President/CEO Greg Avioli said. "We look forward to Ray and
Brad's excellent adventure -- for the second year in a row -- as they walk from
Lexington to Louisville in support of these worthy organizations."
"'Who in their right mind would do this?" Paulick said,
"which is exactly the point. I've always wanted to walk from Lexington to
Louisville, and this is a great excuse to do it. But on a serious note, all of
these charities do vital work in our community and industry and deserve
support."
