Byron colt tops Goffs session

A colt from the first crop of Byron topped proceedings during the second

session of the Goffs November Foal Sale Tuesday when selling to Peter Doyle

Bloodstock for €58,000. Following a low-key

opener Monday, trade recovered as the quality improved and demand for freshman

sires like Byron, who captured the 2003 Mill Reef S. (Eng-G2) and following

year's Lennox S. (Eng-G2), was notable.

Consigned as Hip No. 386 by Ballinacurra Stud, the topper is out of a half to

last year's Prix d'Aumale (Fr-G3) winner Top Toss (Linamix), who added the most

recent renewal of the Prix de Psyche (Fr-G3) to her tally.

Coolmore's Ad Valorem, who was successful twice at the top level in the 2004

Middle Park S. (Eng-G1) and 2006 Queen Anne S. (Eng-G1), enjoyed the runner-up

spot after his January-foaled colt from the draft of Lewinstown Farm sold to

Glenvale Stud's Flash Conroy for €47,000.

Hip 320 is out of a half to the stakes scorer Wixoe Express (Ire) (Anabaa) from

the extended family of Mill Native.

The second session's average of €9,446

fell by only 10 percent on the previous year and the clearance rate of 62

percent was less dramatic than Monday's figure.
