Cecil trainees work for Epsom Oaks

Henry Cecil's two contenders for the June 1 Epsom Oaks (Eng-G1) came through their

final serious workouts with flying colors on Friday at Newmarket.

LIGHT SHIFT (Kingmambo) delighted their conditioner, who is looking to take his

eighth renewal of the 12-furlong classic.

"I was very satisfied and both fillies

worked nicely," Cecil told Racing Post. "Passage of Time did all that was asked,

and there is no sign of anything problematic. At the moment, touch wood,

everything is going the right way and she is on schedule."

Trainer Marcus Tregoning reported Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum's

AQALEEM (Sinndar) on course for the June 2 Epsom Derby (Eng-G1). With weather

forecasts suggesting that significant rain may fall before the classic, the Lambourn conditioner is hopeful the impressive Lingfield Derby Trial

(Eng-G3) victor will handle easy ground.

"It's all systems go and he's in pretty good

shape," Tregoning said. "He cantered this morning and will do his last bit of

work around the middle of next week, very much as Sir Percy (Mark of Esteem

[Ire]) did. The ground is

going to change dramatically according to the forecast, but I think he'll handle

soft ground, as he is by Sinndar out of a Sadler's Wells mare, and he'll

certainly get the trip."
