TRACK BANDIT PREVIEWS

Six three-year-old sprinters are set for Saturday's $100,000 Chick Lang S.

(G3) at Pimlico and we'll side with the Bob Baffert-trained QUIET INVADER

(Songandaprayer), who will make his dirt debut in the six-furlong event. A

maiden scorer last December, the dark bay colt was unplaced in his next two

starts versus winners but turned in an impressive performance in his last

outing, netting a career-best 96 BRIS Speed rating for the nose decision. He

defeated eventual Grade 3 winner Hurricane Ike (Graeme Hall) that afternoon and

has trained forwardly on the dirt at Churchill Downs for this start, registering

five-furlong bullet works in his last two moves. Quiet Invader will be sitting

close with his tactical speed before offering his rally.

COMEDERO (Posse) is a formidable presence in this spot, winning his last

three starts over stakes rivals by daylight margins, but the Arkansas-bred

gelding has been beating up on some questionable company. The front runner

doesn't own overwhelming BRIS E1 Pace numbers and could face pressure from the

start on Saturday, so we're inclined to try to beat him. However, the Michael

Stidham trainee is in razor-sharp form and merits inclusion in any multi-race

wagers.

GARY D (Successful Appeal) faltered when trying graded rivals in the Swale S.

(G2) and has turned in his best efforts on synthetics. The Steve Asmussen runner

did break his maiden on dirt, though, and he picks up the services of Garrett

Gomez. The gray is a threat to hold for part with his speed.

LATIGO SHORE (Malibu Moon) recorded a good-looking, 7 1/2-length maiden tally

at Calder two starts back for Nick Zito but hasn't started since an unplaced

effort in a late February allowance. We'll give him a race against stakes

rivals. CHARLES RUSSELL (More Than Ready) rolled to a 4 1/4-length score when

making his career debut at Philadelphia Park last out, but he hasn't started in

69 days for Don Barr. We'll just watch to see how he fares against better

company off the freshening. KENS CAPE (Cape Town) was no match for Comedero in

the Blue and Gold S. at Charles Town last out and would be a surprise here.
