Churchill Downs will go 'Mad About Plaid' on November 19

Churchill Downs has been the site of many spectacular experiences and special

events through its long history, but the home of the Kentucky Derby (G1) will be

"Mad About Plaid" for the first time when it welcomes fans to the first "Downs

After Dark Presented by Budweiser Select" night racing program conducted during

a Fall Meet on Friday, November 19.

"Mad About Plaid" is the theme of the first-ever autumn racing program and

party -- and the first Fall Meet program conducted under Churchill Downs' new

permanent lights. Fans are urged to "think plaid" as they make their wardrobe

selections for this exciting night of dining, dancing and racing beneath the

Twin Spires.  Prizes will be awarded for outfits deemed the "most plaid"

and representing the "best use of plaid."

Post time for the first of the 11 races on November 19 is 4:30 p.m. (ET). The

festivities at Churchill Downs will begin when admission gates open at 3 p.m.,

with Happy Hour drink and food pricing available in the Paddock Garden from 3-6

p.m. The cover charge for general admission for the night racing program is $10.

As in the earlier "Downs After Dark" sessions during Churchill Downs' spring

meets over the past two years, there will be music at the track throughout the

evening.  The Endless Summer Band will play on the Paddock Garden stage

from 3-7 p.m., followed by internationally renowned DJ 2nd Nature until the

party wraps up at 11 p.m.

Seating and dining for the only "Downs After Dark" session of the Oct.

31-Nov. 28 Fall Meet, including dining packages on Millionaires Row, is

Seating options for the exciting Fall Meet night under the Churchill lights

include:

* "Downs After Dark" on Millionaires Row -- includes admission, dinner on

Millionaires Row, reserved seat and race program for just $59.90. Individual

tickets may be purchased, and guests not purchasing a full table of eight (8)

will be seated with other guests. Seats are sold on first come basis.

* Box seats -- your night racing box seat purchase for $20 will include

admission, reserved seat on the Third Floor Clubhouse and race program.

* Cover charge -- you may also gain general admission to the November 19 "Downs

After Dark" session by purchasing a $10 cover charge ticket at the track's

online ticket office.

Churchill Downs and The Galt House Hotel are teaming to offer a special

one-price ticket to both the November 19 "Downs After Dark" racing program and

the spectacular "KaLightoscope Christmas" celebration that premieres at the

downtown Louisville hotel on November 18. The "Season of Lights -- Downs After

Dark and KaLightoscope Ticket Package" includes general admission to both events

for $24.95 plus tax -- a savings of $3.

The "Season of Lights" combo ticket, which must be purchased by October 31,

includes admission to the night racing session and any "KaLightoscope Christmas"

In keeping with the "Mad About Plaid" theme, special drinks for the evening

will be served throughout the track. The "Madras" features cranberry and orange

juice mixed with vodka, while the "Tartan" is a delightful autumn mixture of

spiced cider and rum. The popular "Bet or No Bet" promotion, sponsored by

Thorntons, will also be back for the only evening session of the Fall Meet. One

lucky fan per race will have a chance to wager $1,000 of Churchill Downs money

on the horse of his or her choice in races 6-9.
