Eight sophomores will square off in Sunday's $150,000 Cinema Breeders' Cup H.

(G3) at Hollywood Park, and NEW JOYSEY JEFF (Bright Launch) has the opportunity

to earn his first stakes victory. A career debut winner over turf in early

January, the Mark Glatt trainee switched to the main track and finished third to

Too Much Bling (Rubiano) in the San Vicente S. (G2) next out. He made his next

three starts on the main track, but New Joysey Jeff's future appears much better

suited for the lawn.

A half-brother to Grade 3 turf winner Dyna Da Wyna, the bay colt returned to

the grass for his most recent start, the Will Rogers S. (G3), and ran boldly

through the stretch to be second, only three-quarters of a length back of

three-time stakes hero Stratham (Ire) (Mozart [Ire]), despite his rider's losing

the whip. New Joysey Jeff owns

plenty of room for improvement off that encouraging effort, and his tactical

speed is an advantage with the probability of a slow early pace here. We'll look

for him to strike the front first and hold off the late runners.

GENRE (GB) (Orpen) made his first two U.S. starts on dirt, but trainer Ben

Cecil wisely moved him back to the weeds and has been rewarded with two solid

efforts. Genre passed horses to be third in the Pasadena S. in mid-March and

rallied well for runner-up honors behind Stratham in the La Puente S. last out.

Bred to relish longer distances, Genre stretches out to nine furlongs on

Sunday and should be firing strongly from off the pace under Martin Pedroza.

THE FIVE J'S (Lost Soldier) will likely show speed from the rail and is a

wire-to-wire threat. We have concerns about class and distance, but there may

not be much pressure and the dark bay gelding exits a sharp theft over

allowance/optional claiming rivals at Hollywood Park. In fact, The Five J's'

form has improved since being switched to the grass two starts back by

conditioner Steve Knapp.

OBRIGADO (Fr) (Enrique) looms as a major player for trainer Neil Drysdale. A

three-time winner in Europe, he was imported to the United States this year and

has raced only once, closing from off the pace to be third in the Will Rogers.

The gelding may have really needed the race, and we wouldn't be surprised to see

him improve significantly off that effort. Obrigado must avoid leaving himself

too much to do, but we won't be surprised to see him run well.

CHADLINGTON (Ire) (Robellino) exits a three-length win from just off the pace

at Golden Gate Fields. He led the way early in the La Puente S. before

retreating to fifth, but he broke from the rail that afternoon and is drawn

farther outside here (7). The Paddy Gallagher runner should be forwardly placed

under Alex Solis, but he could find these rivals too tough. GLOBAL GENIUS (Ire)

(Galileo [Ire]) showed some promise last season in Europe, but we can't

recommend his chances here based upon his two U.S. appearances this spring.

FILM FORTUNE (Indy Film) broke his maiden two starts back over the course and

exits a decent third versus allowance/optional claiming rivals. Trained by Hall

of Famer Jack Van Berg, Film Fortune may continue to develop into a good horse,

but he doesn't look up to this challenge right now. NIAGARA CAUSEWAY (Giant's

Causeway) would probably appreciate some class relief.
