Conservative, Jeranimo tune up for Lexington

At Keeneland on Monday, Phipps Stable's homebred CONSERVATIVE (Unbridled's

Song) breezed five Polytrack furlongs in 1:01 2/5 in advance of Saturday's

$300,000 Lexington S. (G2). The Shug McGaughey trainee galloped out six furlongs

in 1:14 3/5, according to Keeneland clockers.

Conservative is exiting two straight victories at Gulfstream Park, having

taken a turf maiden and an off-the-turf allowance. Three starts back, the gray

was runner-up to Lexington rival EL CRESPO (A.P. Indy) in a Gulfstream maiden.

El Crespo subsequently captured the Palm Beach S. (G3) on turf.

Conservative is out of Grade 1 heroine Oh What a Windfall (Seeking the Gold),

who is a full sister to champion Heavenly Prize (Seeking the Gold).

Also working on Monday was San Felipe S. (G2) third JERANIMO (Congaree), who traveled

a half-mile in :49 over the Pro-Ride at Santa Anita. The Michael Pender pupil

was beaten a total of 2 1/4 lengths by the streaking Pioneerof the Nile (Empire

Maker) when making his stakes debut in the San Felipe.

Twelve sophomores are now expected to line up in the 1 1/16-mile test, after

PITCHED PERFECTLY (Pleasantly Perfect) joined the list for new owner Lael

Stables and trainer Barclay Tagg. The chestnut has not raced since landing an

allowance/optional claimer at Aqueduct in January for former conditioner Gary

Contessa.

Others listed as probable by Keeneland stakes coordinator Tia Borgemenke are

Breeders' Futurity (G1) winner SQUARE EDDIE (Smart Strike), Illinois Derby (G2)

third HIS GREATNESS (Honour and Glory), W.E.B.N. S. winner PARADE CLOWN (Distorted Humor), Sunland Derby runner-up

MYTHICAL POWER (Congaree), the Todd Pletcher pair of ADVICE (Chapel Royal) and

MASALA (Lion Heart), OMNISCIENT (Pulpit) from the Steve Asmussen barn, and one

of two runners trained by Nick Zito, BRAVE VICTORY (Lion Heart) or SANTANA SIX

(Hold That Tiger).
