Cross Traffic represented by first winner

Grade 1 winner Cross Traffic was represented by his first winner as a sire on Thursday when his juvenile daughter Dreaming Diamonds captured the 5TH race at Churchill Downs.

The bay filly was making her second career start, but her first for trainer Tom Amoss after finishing third in her debut at Keeneland on April 8 under the tutelage of Tracey Young. This time around, Dreaming Diamonds led all the way home with jockey Corey Lanerie aboard to secure the 3 1/4-length victory in a final time of :52.83 for 4 1/2 furlongs over the fast main track.

Cross Traffic broke his maiden at first asking for trainer Todd Pletcher at Gulfstream Park on January 24, 2013. The gray son of Unbridled’s Song then took an allowance/optional claimer in March before just missing by a head in the Westchester Stakes (G3) and a nose in the Metropolitan Handicap (G1), both at Belmont Park.

The Kentucky-bred showed up at Saratoga and wired the Whitney Invitational Handicap (G1) before closing out his career back at Belmont with an unplaced effort in the Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1).

Cross Traffic retired with a 6-3-2-0, $687,967 career record and currently stands for a live foal fee of $7,500 at Spendthrift Farm near Lexington, Kentucky.
