Declaration of War to stand at Coolmore after Classic

Last updated: 10/22/13 12:37 PM

Declaration of War will retire to Coolmore's headquarters in Ireland

following his final start in the Breeders' Cup Classic on November 2.

The three-year-old son of War Front won the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes over a

mile at Royal Ascot in June and added another Group 1 to his ledger when

defeating Trading Leather and Al Kazeem in the August 21 Juddmonte International Stakes at

York, posting a winning time that was bettered only by Sea the Stars.

"Declaration of War has danced every dance this season and will have one more

run in the Breeders' Cup Classic," trainer Aidan O'Brien said. "He has an

unbelievable constitution and is a lot like Giant's Causeway, a big, powerful,

strong traveler, so we're hopeful that he'll run well."

"Unbeaten as a two-year-old in France, Declaration of War won two of

Britain's highest profile Group 1s this summer and is a very imposing horse to

look at," Coolmore manager Christy Grassick said. "His sire War Front is

probably the most sought after stallion in America at the moment and his dam is

a half-sister to star two-year-old and American classic winner Union Rags. He's

a hugely exciting prospect."

Declaration of War's career record reads 12-7-1-1, $1,347,592.
