Euro Charline passes gate test, on track for Falmouth

Last updated: 7/4/15 4:59 PM

Last year's Beverly D. S. (G1) winner Euro Charline (Myboycharlie), scratched behind the gates after failing to load for the Duke of

Cambridge S. (Eng-G2) at Royal Ascot, has passed a gate test and is on track for the July 10 Falmouth S.

(Eng-G1) at Newmarket.

"What happened at Royal Ascot came completely out of the

blue as, apart from on her two-year-old debut, she has never had an issue (with the

stalls)," trainer Marco Botti explained. "So she was forced to miss a race that we had been aiming at

for a long time, but it might end up working to our advantage as she will go to the Falmouth as a fresh horse.

"It has been a bit of a rush to get her a stalls test, as you usually have to wait for two weeks, but she did one last week and walked straight in, without a blindfold or any help, and I hope that she will be just the same on Friday."

The four-year-old Euro Charline will be making her first public appearance since a fourth in the

March 28 Dubai Turf (UAE-G1) at Meydan, which was her first outing since the Beverly D. last August.

"I thought that she ran really well in Dubai considering that it was not the plan to make the running -- she just broke too well and ended up getting a bit lit up," Botti

said of the Team Valor colorbearer. "With some cover she

would have finished much closer."

Those still in the mix for the Falmouth include Duke of

Cambridge winner Amazing Maria (Mastercraftsman); last year's dual French

classic winner Avenir Certain (Le Havre); Group 2-winning and classic-placed

Lucida (Shamardal); and Group 2 scorer Fintry (Shamardal).
