Evon's Wildcat brings $111,000 at Fasig-Tipton Texas
Hip No. 181, EVON'S WILDCAT (Wildcat Shoes), sold for the top price of
$111,000 at Monday's Fasig-Tipton Texas Summer Yearlings Sale at Lone Star Park,
pacing a day's trade that witnessed increases in both gross and average. Coteau Grove
Farm, which purchased his undefeated juvenile half-brother Toro Bravo (Holy
Bull) at this sale in 2009, snapped up the Louisiana-bred colt.
At the conclusion of the single-session sale Monday night, Fasig-Tipton
reported that 214 horses were sold for a total of $2,379,400, a 25.9 percent
increase from the $1,889,400 realized by 185 horses in 2009. The average climbed
8.9 percent, from $10,213 to $11,119, while the $5,000 median was unchanged from
a year ago.
Evon's Wildcat was consigned by Newport Innage Farm, agent for Oak Tree
Stables. The February 1-foaled bay is out of the unraced Gold Case mare Little
Evon, who has produced two stakes performers. Her two-year-old Toro Bravo, a
$58,000 yearling here last year, extended his mark to three-for-three by
capturing the July 3 D.S. "Shine" Young Memorial Futurity at Evangeline Downs.
Little Evon is also responsible for the multiple stakes-placed Reckon (Devil His
Due), the runner-up in the fillies' division of the "Shine" Young in 2008. The
yearling colt's third dam is multiple stakes winner Nasherrico (Amerrico).
A Closing Argument half-sister to recent Triple Bend H. (G1) hero E Z's
Gentleman (Yankee Gentleman) brought a bid of $63,000 from Rufus Patin. Also a
Louisiana-bred, the bay filly was offered by Scott Mallory, agent. Cataloged as
Hip 323, the April 20 foal was produced by stakes winner Tensie's Pro
(Distinctive Pro), the dam of E Z's Gentleman. That classy sprinter had placed
in this season's Potrero Grande H. (G2) and Los Angeles H. (G3) prior to his
signature score in the July 10 Triple Bend, and he was most recently third in
the August 1 Bing Crosby S. (G1).
