Exchange Rate filly was the top seller at the two-day Fasig-Tipton sale (Enzina Mastrippolito/Horsephotos.com) Zayat Stables paid $375,000 for a filly by Exchange Rate at Tuesday's final session of the Fasig-Tipton July Selected Yearling Sale in Lexington, Kentucky. Named WICKED EXCHANGE, the gray filly was the overall top price of the two-day sale. She was consigned by Warrendale Sales, agent. Cataloged as Hip No. 441, the filly is the second foal out of Wickedly Wise (Tactical Cat), a half-sister to stakes winner Cayman Sunset (Wolf Power [SAf]) and stakes-placed Oh Summer (Oh Say). Cayman Sunset is the dam of 2007 Los Angeles H. (G3) winner Sailors Sunset (Petionville) and stakes-placed Rival Islands (Petionville). Wicked Exchange previously sold for $100,000 at the 2007 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale. The second-highest priced filly was Hip 314, a daughter of first-crop sire Eurosilver, who fetched $275,000 from Nick de Meric, agent. Consigned by Bluewater Sales, agent, the bay filly is a half-sister to Hirsch Jacobs S. (G3) winner Lantana Mob (Posse), who most recently finished third in the Carry Back S. (G2) on Calder's Summit of Speed program. The Eurosilver filly is out of Lantana (Copelan), a daughter of multiple stakes winner Sea Art (Journey At Sea). She previously sold for $90,000 at last year's Keeneland November sale. A pair of colts each sold for $320,000.

The first, a colt by Eurosilver, was purchased by Starlight Partners.

Cataloged as Hip 286, the bay colt was the second horse to enter the sales ring

and is a half-brother to stakes-placed Point Blake (Quiet American). He is out of the

winning Dayjur mare Informative Style and is a descendant of stakes winner and

multiple Grade 1 stakes producer Northern Meteor (Northern Dancer). He was

consigned by Elm Tree Farm, agent.

The second, a colt by first-crop sire Forest Danger, was purchased by Gulf

Coast Farms. Cataloged as Hip 466, the bay colt is the fourth foal out of the

unraced Seeking the Gold mare Brilliant Blaze. His third dam, stakes winner Lady

Pastor (Flying Paster), is the dam of two black-type winners, including Grade 2

winner Worldly Manner (Riverman). He was consigned by Gainesway, agent, and

previously sold for $95,000 at last year's Keeneland November sale.

On Tuesday, 163 horses sold for $14,840,000, a 28 percent decline compared to

the same session a year ago when 176 horses sold for $20,615,000. The average

price dropped 22.3 percent, from $117,131 to $91,043, while the median price

fell 16.7 percent, from $90,000 to $75,000.

Overall, a total of 305 horses sold for $28,151,000, a 22.7 percent decrease

compared to 2007 when 354 horses changed hands for $36,441,000. The average

price dropped 10.3 percent, from $102,941 to $92,298, while the median price

fell 6.3 percent, from $80,000 to $75,000.
