Final preparations underway across the country for Breeders' Cup
Final preparations underway across the country for
Breeders' Cup
Numerous Breeders' Cup hopefuls put in their final major moves ahead of the
October 30-31 championship events at Keeneland, working from that Lexington,
Kentucky, track all the way to the West Coast at Santa Anita Park.
At Keeneland, trainer Todd Pletcher sent out a second wave of workers after
Thursday saw Liam's Map (Unbridled's Song), Got Lucky (A.P. Indy), Azar (Scat
Daddy) and Thrilled (Uncle Mo) record moves. His workers on Friday were Rachel's
Valentina (Bernardini), Dame Dorothy (Bernardini), Mshawish (Medaglia d'Oro),
Red Rifle (Giant's Causeway) and Sweet Whiskey (Old Fashioned).
A quartet of Breeders' Cup Juvenile workers took to the Keeneland main track on
Friday, while
Frivolous (Empire Maker) posted a "sensational" work for the Distaff on
Keeneland's busy Breeders' Cup worktab.
Frosted (Tapit) fired a bullet at the Greentree Training Center on Friday ahead
of his run in next Saturday's Breeders' Cup Classic, and
Nyquist (Uncle Mo) posted his final drill for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile right
before Santa Anita Park's races on Friday.
In other Breeders' Cup news,
Ageless (Successful Appeal) has run out of time to make the Turf Sprint (G1),
according to trainer Arnaud Delacour. The six-year-old mare just missed by three
parts of a length when fourth in last year's running, but sustained a deep cut
below her left hock while winning the October 9 Franklin County S. in her final
prep for a repeat run.
