First winner for Exciting Story

Canadian champion and Metropolitan Mile (G1) winner EXCITING STORY (Diablo)

was represented by his first winner as a sire on Thursday when his two-year-old

daughter Holly Torque Tango captured the 3RD race at Hollywood Park in smashing

fashion. Trained by Brian Koriner and ridden by Tyler Baze, the chestnut lass

dueled for the lead before quickly sprinting clear on the far turn and drawing off to

a 5 1/2-length decision in the maiden special weight event. Purchased for

$16,000 at the 2005 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October yearling sale, Holly Torque

Tango covered 4 1/2 furlongs over a fast track in :51 2/5.

Exciting Story captured the Swynford S. (Can-G3), Silver Deputy S. and

finished first by 8 1/2 lengths before being disqualified in the Grey Breeders'

Cup S. (Can-G1) in 1999. He also placed in the Hopeful S. (G1) en route to being

named Canada's champion two-year-old that season. Owned by Mockingbird Farm and

trained by Mark Casse, the Florida-bred chestnut earned his biggest career

victory when upsetting the 2001 edition of the Met Mile. Other accomplishments

include a victory in the Vigil H. (Can-G3) and a second in the Fall Highweight

H. (G2).

The nine-year-old stallion retired with nearly $1 million in earnings from a

25-7-6-1 mark.
