Four Sins tops Goffs breeding stock session

The Goffs November Sale switched its emphasis from foals to breeding stock

Saturday, and there were no surprises when the Aga Khan's top-class Four Sins

(Ger) (Sinndar) stole the show halfway through the session. Near the top of her

generation last year, the four-year-old was one of her owner's rare purchases as

a yearling, bringing €120,000 at the Goffs

Orby sale in 2005. She carried the Aga Khan's colors to victory in the Blandford

S. (Ire-G2) and Blue Wind S. (Ire-G3), and also finished fourth in the Epsom

Oaks (Eng-G1). In foal to Dansili (GB), Four Sins was knocked down for

€620,000 to Lizzie Lyons who, bidding on

behalf of John McCormack Bloodstock, outlasted David Nagle.

"She has been bought on behalf of a longstanding client of John McCormack,

and it is quite likely that she will be exported to go to Japan," Lyons

explained. "She's a really lovely mare, in foal to a good sire, and she was a

high-class runner on the track."

Darley's draft is always warmly received at these sales, and such was the

case with broodmare prospect Bestowal (Unbridled's Song). Sold as Hip No. 1471,

the unraced three-year-old is out of the group-placed Cadeaux d'Amie (Lyphard),

and is therefore a half-sister to the stellar performers Irish Prize (Irish

River [Fr]) and Hatoof (Irish River [Fr]), as well as the dam of Godolphin's

Pictavia (Ire) (Sinndar). It was Brendan Gallagher's Emerald Bloodstock who

prevailed with a bid of €240,000 for the

blueblood, whose dam is also a half to Mrs Penny (Great Nephew).

"I don't know who she is going to be covered by and we'll be looking around

for a stallion for her, but it's more than likely that she will end up in

Kentucky," Gallagher said. "She cost plenty and let's hope she's lucky, but

families like this just don't come up too often, and she's a lovely filly."

Another to sell for €240,000 yesterday

was Hip 1499, the 10-year-old Chiming (Ire) (Danehill). From the draft of J K

Thoroughbreds, she is in foal to Montjeu (Ire). The Grade 3 winner is a half to

the dam of this year's CL Weld Park S. (Ire-G3) third Cristal Island (Trans

Island). Chiming was purchased by Eddie Irwin's Marlhill House Stud.
