Goffs/DBS to test for anabolic steroids

The Goffs/Doncaster Breeders' Sales (DBS) Group will extend the blood test

for banned drugs to include anabolic steroids, effective January 1, 2008. The

decision took note of recent improvements in the accuracy and speed of testing

methods for anabolic steroids, and it continues the group's ongoing efforts to

increase transparency within the bloodstock industry.

According to Goffs/DBS officials, there has never been a suggestion of any

anabolic steroid misuse at Goffs or DBS, and there have been no reported cases

from either company. Both Goffs and DBS believe that this makes the introduction

of such a test more straightforward, and they are expecting no positive results.

"We have introduced this test as a further example of our confidence in the

horses we sell and to increase transparency at all our sales," said Henry Beeby,

CEO of the Goffs/DBS Group. "We are confident that this step graphically
