Green Vegas, Adhrythm shine on Festival of the Sun

Green Vegas surprised in the In Reality (Jim Lisa Photos) During the Festival of the Sun stakes program at Calder on Saturday, Luis Olivares' GREEN VEGAS (Trippi) took the lead in the stretch and held on for a half-length win in the $400,000 In Reality division of the Florida Stallion S. A winner in his lone two-turn start leading up to this, the bay colt rated in midpack before closing strongly to earn his second consecutive stakes tally. Trained by his owner, Green Vegas finished off the 1 1/16 miles in 1:47 4/5 on the fast track and paid $8, $4.20 and $2.80 as the 3-1 second choice under Julio Garcia. Wonderous Glory (Three Wonders) fought gamely but could never get to the top one, settling for the place at nearly 15-1 to return $10 and $6.40. The winning exacta was worth $79.20. Imawildandcrazyguy (Wild Event) took the lead at the six-furlong mark, but could not stay on and settled for third at 9-1. Show was worth $5 and the trifecta rewarded backers with $345.80. Straight Faced (Straight Man), the 3-5 choice who was going for a sweep of the Florida Stallion S., dueled on the front end but could not match strides late in a respectable fourth-place finish. The chalk finished off the $926 superfecta (5-4-6-1). Captain Cameron (Eltish), Villainage (Trippi) and Hold'em or Fold'em (Wheaton) completed the field, while Soldier's Dancer (Lost Soldier) was withdrawn. Green Vegas now sports a career line of 6-3-0-2, $375,700. The bay was victorious in the Foolish Pleasure Breeders' Cup S. and owns placings in the Affirmed division of the Florida Stallion S. and Birdonthewire S.

In the $400,000

My Dear Girl

division, ADHRHYTHM (Adhocracy) took the lead after

six panels and drew off to a convincing 4 3/4-length win for trainer Eddie Plesa

Jr. Piloted by Manny Cruz, the bay filly finished off the 1 1/16 miles in 1:48

2/5 in earning her second consecutive stakes win. The 4-5 choice paid $3.60,

$2.20 and $2.10 while keying the $9.60 exacta, $36 trifecta, and $123 superfecta

(5-1-7-3).

Silkily (Line in the Sand) valiantly chased the winner but

could never corral her. The 4-1 third choice paid $2.80 and $2.40.

Snow Lady (Snow Ridge) closed from last to earn the show spot, 11 1/2 lengths

clear of her nearest pursuer. The 17-1 shot gave back $2.80 for the show. Dantrelle Light (Colony Light) was next, finishing the superfecta at nearly 7-1,

and was trailed by Synergy (Sweetsouthernsaint) and Saint Barbara (Sweetsouthernsaint). Boxitup (Outofthebox)

was pulled up in the stretch and failed to finish.

Adhrhythm has now reeled off three straight scores, including a win in the

Susan's Girl division of the Florida Stallion S., and has upped her mark to 5-3-2-0. The freshman filly has now

banked $361,830.

In other stakes action on the card, Jacks or Better Farm's homebred BAYOU'S LASSIE (Outflanker) was

never headed in taking the $200,000

Calder Oaks. Trained by Stanley Gold and

piloted by Elvis Trujillo, the 8-5 favorite got the nine furlongs over

good turf in 1:50 1/5 to record her second straight stakes tally, following a

win in the Judy's Red Shoes S. The three-year-old miss now sports a lifetime mark of 6-5-0-0

with a bankroll of $230,400.

Irv Treusch and D. Gilinsky's DARLUNA (Premiership) upstaged her more heavily

hyped foes with a dominating, 18 1/2-length win in the $100,000

Shocker T. H. The

Steve DiMauro charge broke sharply on the lead and increased her margin at

nearly every

call, completing the 1 1/16 miles in 1:45 1/5 beneath

Eduardo Nunez. The multiple stakes-winning filly moved her mark to 23-6-1-2 with

earnings of $181,490.

In the $100,000

Criterium S., Trilogy Stables'

homebred YESBYJIMMINY (Yes It's True) dueled for the lead before drawing off to

win by five lengths. Conditioned by Plesa Jr.

and guided by Abel Castellano Jr., the 6-5 favorite went six furlongs in 1:11

1/5 in registering his second stakes win. The bay colt upped his mark to 5-4-0-1

with earnings of $154,100.

YESSHECANDANCE (Yes It's True) broke on top and fought off challengers

throughout in a game fashion in taking the $100,000

J J'sdream S. The

two-year-old bay filly was challenged virtually the entire way but was never

passed for conditioner Jose Pinchin and rider Trujillo, stopping the timer

in 1:12 3/5 for six furlongs. The winner has now bagged stakes wins in

consecutive outings in moving her mark to 5-3-1-0 with a bankroll of $146,800.
