John and Sarah Kelly's Kentucky-homebred Chamois pulled away late to win Sunday's $100,000 Stakes for three-year-olds at Aqueduct. The Christophe Clement pupil raced to an early three-length lead while posting an opening quarter in :24 1/5. He would relinquish pacesetting duties to Vinny Goodtimes, who took over on the outside to lead the field through a half-mile in :49 2/5 and three-quarters in 1:13 3/5. Chamois angled to the outside after giving up the lead but eventually took back over as the field turned for home. The 9-5 favorite Notacatbutallama moved up to challenge in the stretch, but Chamois was too much as he pulled away for a 3 1/4-length victory. With Joel Rosario in the irons, the chestnut covered 1 1/16 miles over the firm turf in 1:43 4/5 as the 5-1 third choice and returned $12.60 for the score. Notacatbutallama took second, while Joha got up for third. Tattenham, North Slope, Vinny Goodtimes, Mills and Wind of Bosphorus rounded out the order of finish. Make It Gold was withdrawn. Chamois broke his maiden over this course back on December 5 to close out his two-year-old campaign. He opened up 2013 with a win in an optional claiming race and made his stakes bow in the Hill Prince Stakes at Belmont Park, finishing third to Notacatbutallama.

a 9-4-0-2 career line.

In the other stakes race on the card at Aqueduct, Chester and Mary Broman's New York-homebred Bigger is Bettor pulled off the upset by a neck in a three-horse photo finish in the $100,00 Gold Stakes as the 8-1 sixth betting choice and rewarded his backers $18.80 for the win. The Rodrigo Ubillo-trained five-year-old settled in midpack as 44-1 longshot Romancing the Gold led the field through opening splits of :24 2/5, :49 2/5 and 1:13 4/5 before fading to last in the stretch. Bigger is Bettor swung five wide into upper stretch and mounted a rally on the outside. He was forced to angle out with about a furlong to go for a clear path while Don Dulce was making a move of his own down along the rail. Bigger is Bettor finished with a late surge and crossed the wire first in 1:50 2/5 for the 1 1/8-mile test over the fast main track with Angel Arroyo up. Don Dulce got up for second by a neck over 9-5 favorite Percussion in third. Atigun, Quick Casablanca, Aussi Austin, Fast Falcon and Romancing the Gold completed the order under the wire.
