My Trusty Cat pulled off the upset in the Humana (Debra Kral/Horsephotos.com)

Carl F. Pollard's MY TRUSTY CAT (Tale of the Cat) was sent off at 10-1 in

Saturday's $281,750

Humana Distaff H. (G1) but ran like a favorite to take the

seven-furlong event by three parts of a length. The David Vance trainee paid

$23, $9 and $5.60 to her faithful backers and finished seven furlongs over the

fast track in a quick 1:21.

Molto Vita (Carson City), off at 12-1, was worth $12.40 and $8.40 for holding Puxa Saco

(Dehere) to third by a head and ended the $211.80 exacta. Puxa Saco, sent was

dismissed at 29-1 and returned $13.20, rounding out the $2,665.80 trifecta, while Bending

Strings (American Chance) completed the nice $10,970.10 superfecta (8-3-1-2)

($1). Madcap Escapade (Hennessy), Heavenly Humor (Distorted Humor), Souris

(Defrere), Santa Candida (Arg) (Espaciado) and Josh's Madelyn (Quiet American)

finished out the order under the wire.

Madcap Escapade broke from post 9 and quickly moved the fore, setting swift

fractions of :21 4/5, 44 1/5 and 1:08 2/5 as the heavy 2-5 favorite before

giving way. As the

field entered the turn, My Trusty Cat and jockey Javier Castellano, who had been

patiently biding their time in midpack, started their run while four wide. The

pair overtook the public's choice nearing the eighth pole and kept the drive

going all the way to the wire.
