Hussonet colt highlights Perth second session

A colt by Hussonet attracted a bid of A$150,000 to top Thursday's second

session of the BMW Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale at Belmont, West

Australia.

Neville Parnham, who has purchased seven yearlings over the course of the

first two sessions, signed the ticket for Lot No. 245 from the draft of

Heytesbury Stud. The bay colt is a half-brother to Group 2 winner French Bid

(Aus) (Anabaa), and the pair are out of My Crystal Star (Copper Kingdom), who is

a half-sister to 2005 Queensland Derby (Aus-G1) winner Lachlan River (Desert

King).

The highest-priced filly on Thursday was Lot 228, a daughter of Oratorio out

of Milihalo (Don't Say Hello). Offered by Mungrup Stud as agent, the brown miss

was purchased by Lindsey Smith for A$120,000 and comes from the same family as

multiple Group 1 victor Freemason (Grand Lodge).

In all, six yearlings sold for A$100,000 or more Thursday, and a total of 175

have grossed A$6,876,500. The clearance rate was 70 percent.

"We have some outstanding prospects to go under the ring at Belmont

tomorrow," said David Chester, managing director for the auction house. "The

smart buyers are here. The value they are getting is second to none.

"Hopefully, our clearance rate can jump a little tomorrow -- I'm sure the

buyers on hand will be thrilled with those set to go through the ring during

Session Three."
