Inglis will introduce digital repository

William Inglis & Son Ltd announced Thursday the launch of an internet-based

digital x-ray repository that will be ready for the 2008 Inglis Yearling Sales

Series.

"With our exclusive business partner, CDN Technology Pty Ltd based in

Wollongong New South Wales, we have designed a state of the art system suitable

for registered veterinarians to be able to view digital x-rays using their own

computers from any location with broadband Internet access," explained Managing

Director of Inglis Mark Webster. "Although several other sales companies in

other parts of the world are now using digital technology, Inglis is the first

to launch a digital solution accessible via the internet using standard computer

equipment and monitors."

The system, located at Newmarket in Sydney, allows for the display and

manipulation of the series of images submitted for each lot. Veterinarians will

be able to submit images using either optical technologies (CD/DVD) or using

portable hard disks, downloaded directly from their own picture archiving and

communications systems (PACS) to the Inglis PACS. Submission of images, whether

digital or analogue, will be required to comply with the Conditions of Sale. All

viewings by vets will be logged so that vendors continue to be able to view

their individual statistics of viewings for both digital and analogue x-rays.

Inglis will maintain a repository on site at Newmarket and Oaklands for vets

wishing to lodge and view film-based x-rays. Computers will be made available in

the repository for vets who wish to view digital x-rays at the sale grounds.

"Having seen other digital x-ray repository systems around the world, I have

no hesitation in saying that the Inglis/CDN system is world class and unique,

being web based," Greg Nash from the Randwick Equine Centre said. "I have tested

the system and can verify that the accessibility, usability and quality of the

radiographs that can be viewed on this system are excellent."

Inglis said that a publicly accessible demonstration facility will be

available towards the end of January 2008 to give clients an overview of how the

system works.
