Internationals prep for International Cup
The six international challengers for Sunday's S$3 million ($1.77 million)
Singapore Airlines International Cup (Mal-G1) at Kranji were further acquainted
with the track Tuesday morning. Godolphin's Valixir (Ire) (Trempolino)
cantered over the sand track and is not likely to do much more, explained
traveling head groom Claire Sparkes.
"He did his final piece of work at Newmarket before he shipped here, and it's
just a question of keeping him happy and ticking over between now and Sunday,"
Sparkes said. "He'll have a mile canter on Wednesday and Thursday morning on the
grass and then step up to the mile and a quarter on Friday morning."
Falstaff (Montjeu [Ire]), third in the Dubai Sheema Classic (UAE-G1) in
March, trailed a workmate by over six lengths at one point, but inhaled that
one, getting his final eighth of a mile in :11.90. Trained by Mike de Kock, he
is scheduled to continue his career in Singapore following this race.
