Jimmy Creed notches first stakes win in Malibu

Spendthrift Farm's Jimmy Creed enjoyed an inside stalking trip, split rivals

at the top of the stretch, and drove past long-time leader Private Zone to land

at Santa Anita, the final Grade 1 race of 2012. Exiting a ninth-place finish in

the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Sprint over the same strip November 3, the

three-year-old son of Distorted Humor finished three quarters of a length ahead

of the 15-1 Private Zone while completing seven furlongs in a brisk 1:20 1/5

over a fast track.

Jimmy Creed, the 8-1 fourth choice in a field of nine, returned $19.20, $8.80

and $7.

Private Zone, who was left alone to set splits of :22 3/5 and :44 3/5, was

chased for five furlongs by 4-5 favorite The Lumber Guy, the Breeders' Cup

Sprint runner-up. Private Zone successfully ran that rival off his feet, opened

up a one-length advantage at the eighth pole, and yielded grudgingly to Jimmy

Creed, who tracked in fourth to the quarter pole.

Rallying for third, 2 1/4 lengths behind Private Zone, was 6-1 second choice

Unbridled's Note, who was three-quarters of a length ahead of 10-1 shot Drill.

Completing the order of finish was Guilt Trip, Fed Biz, The Lumber Guy,

Politicallycorrect and Basmati. Castaway was scratched.

A maiden winner at Hollywood Park on Independence Day, Jimmy Creed next

captured an allowance at Del Mar before bowing by a neck in his stakes debut in

the August 31 El Cajon at the same track. A close third in the Grade 1 Santa

Anita Sprint Championship two back, Jimmy Creed failed to muster a rally in the

Breeders' Cup Sprint last time over a track playing kindly to speed. His record

now stands at 7-3-2-1, $313,000.

Bred in Kentucky by Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings, Jimmy Creed was a

$900,000 Keeneland September yearling. He was produced by Grade 1 La Brea winner

Hookedonthefeelin, a daughter of Citidancer, making him a half-brother to

multiple Grade 1 queen Pussycat Doll and the stakes-placed Blowing Kisses. He's

also a full brother to stakes winner Funny Feeling. This is the family of Grade

3 winner Potomac Bend.
