Keeneland's April sale moves to evenings during Blue Grass

week

Keeneland's April Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale will be now be conducted

over two evening

sessions on the Tuesday and Wednesday of Blue Grass S. (G1) week, officials

announced on Friday. There will be one preview show on April 7, with the sale

itself to be held on April 8-9.

"The dynamics of two-year-old sales have changed, and this move is in

response to industry buyers and consignors who have indicated their preference

for a one-day preview show," Keeneland's Director of Sales Geoffrey Russell said. "Having a Polytrack

racing surface, we are confident we can hold a single preview show the day

before the sale regardless of the weather."

The change will move the April Sale, which had been held late in the month, forward on Keeneland's spring race meet

calendar.

"So many horsemen are here that week for the Ashland Stakes ([G1] April 5) and Toyota Blue Grass (April 12), that it' a

perfect fit," Russell continued. "The two-evening sale format will give buyers

more time to view the preview day videos and evaluate the horses."

Recent April Sale graduates include American Oaks Invitational (G1) winner

Panty Raid (Include), Summer S. (Can-G3) winner Prussian (Danzig) and 2006 Del

Mar Debutante (G1) winner and Eclipse Award finalist Point Ashley.
