Kipling relocated to Kentucky

KIPLING (Gulch), the sire of Breeders' Cup Mile (G1) winner Kip Deville, will

relocate from Mighty Acres near Pryor, Oklahoma, to Crestwood Farm near

Lexington, Kentucky, for the 2008 breeding season. The 11-year-old stallion will

stand for a fee of $7,500 live foal as the property of Crestwood, Three

Chimneys, and Center Hills Farm.

Besides the Breeders' Cup Mile, Kip Deville won the Frank E. Kilroe Mile H.

(G1) and Maker's Mark Mile S. (G2) this year. To date, the gray colt has earned

$2,434,422 from a record of 21-9-3-2.

Kipling is the sire of four other stakes winners, including five-time stakes

winner and $418,561-earner Dreamsandvisions, who placed in the 2007 Texas Mile

S. (G3).

Kipling is a full brother to 2007 Remsen S. (G2) winner Court Vision and Hong

Kong Group 2 winner Garcia Marquez. He is out of Weekend Storm (Storm Bird), a

full sister to classic winner and successful sire Summer Squall, and a

half-sister to 1992 Horse of the Year and leading sire A.P. Indy (Seattle Slew).

His second dam, multiple Grade 3 winner and 1992 Broodmare of the Year Weekend

Surprise (Secretariat), also produced Grade 3 winner Welcome Surprise (Seeking

the Gold) and stakes winner Eavesdropper (Kingmambo).
