COST OF FREEDOM (Cee's Tizzy) will enter Saturday's $100,000 Los Angeles H.
(G3) in strong form for John Sadler, recording a 4 1/2-length allowance score
over the Cushion Track in his 2010 debut, and rates top billing over his seven
rivals. An excellent head third in the Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) two back, the
versatile seven-year-old can win on the lead or from just off of it, and he's
posted BRIS Speed ratings of 104 and 105 in his two outings. We like the dark
bay gelding here.
M ONE RIFLE (One Man Army) missed the break when returning off a layoff last
time versus Cost of Freedom and is eligible to run better in this spot. Trained
by Bruce Headley, the four-year-old gelding will likely show more speed here and
is well-drawn on the outside in post 8 with David Flores. The Malibu S. (G1) winner
looks dangerous.
BET ON VICTOR (Yankee Victor) will enter on the upswing for Vladimir Cerin,
winning his last two starts over allowance rivals, and should be in a perfect
striking position behind the early leaders on Saturday. The six-furlong
specialist (4-3-0-1) merits consideration for a minor upset, but his BRIS
numbers are a little light and a top-three placing appears more likely.
HIYA SILVER (Silver Charm) is going well presently for Brian Koriner, winning
three of his last five outings, and the closer shows triple-digit BRIS Late Pace
ratings in his last three starts. He'll be tested for class in his stakes bow,
but we won't be surprised to see the improving five-year-old offer some value to
the exotics with a stout late rally.
STONESIDE (Ire) (Marchand de Sable) has placed in his last five starts and
can't be dismissed from the exotics here. The Julio Canani runner has had more success
on turf, but the stalker could offer a decent move into a fast pace here. E Z'S
GENTLEMAN (Yankee Gentleman) owns a solid late kick but may prefer more ground.
MY SUMMER SLEW (Siberian Summer) and JIGGLY (In Excess [Ire]) could find
themselves overmatched in this spot.
