Lost in the Fog flies back to California

Last updated: 3/9/05 7:06 PM

LOST IN THE FOG (Lost Soldier), who remained undefeated in Saturday's Swale

S. (G2) at Gulfstream Park, flew back to his base in Northern California on

Tuesday. Trainer Greg Gilchrist indicated that if the three-year-old left

Florida, he would not return for the $1 million Florida Derby (G1) on April 2.

Lost in the Fog, who is not currently nominated to the Triple Crown, is

expected to make his next start around two turns, but Gilchrist said his plans

are up in the air.

"We don't have plans set all the way just yet, but we figured we should get

out now before it got too late," Gilchrist told the Gulfstream Park press

office. "We wanted to bring him back home."

Lost in the Fog could be pointed toward the $750,000, 1 1/8-mile Santa Anita

Derby (G1) on April 9.
