Last updated: 8/15/15 8:12 PM

Lucky Speed, the 2013 German Derby (Ger-G1)-winning son of 2001 Arlington

Million (G1) hero Silvano, took to the Arlington turf course just like his

father when registering a victory Saturday in the $350,000

American St Leger (G3).

Making his first start in the U.S. following a recent fourth in the Nijinsky

(Can-G2) at Woodbine, Lucky Speed rated in fifth most of the way, advanced into

contention approaching the stretch and wore down Panama Hat (Medicean) late to

win by three parts of a length under Andrasch Starke in course record time of

2:46.50 for 1 11/16 miles on firm turf. The 3-1 second choice, he paid $8.
