Magic Millions sees growth

A pair of yearlings realized final bids of A$100,000 to top the Sunday

opening session of the two-day Magic Millions Premier Yearling Sale on the Gold

Coast.

The first of those to go through the ring was Hip No. 96, a filly by Sequalo from the consignment of Corella Stud, agent. The October 17 foal is a

daughter of Laudham Charm (Laudham Star), already the dam of four winners from

as many foals to race. The filly was purchased by Alan Acton.

Hip 225, a chestnut colt by young Darley stallion Untouchable

also shared top honors. Consigned to the sale by Ilala Stud, the September 26

foal was produced by Roserunner (Kenmare) and hails from the immediate female

family of the good Australasian sire Lion Hunter. The colt was purchased by

trainer Bryan Guy.

For the day, 155 yearlings changed hands at a session aggregate of

A$2,703,500, up from A$2.4 million last year, and saw an increase in average

price to A$17,442 from A$16,883 in 2006.

"It was a good day's selling today with a large crowd on hand," Magic

Millions Managing Director David Chester said. "The quality yearlings on offer proved

popular throughout the day. There's no doubt this sale is one of the value

auctions of Australia. The sale has a great record of producing high class

gallopers at bargain prices."

The sale concludes Monday.
