Multiple stakes-winning mare MARQUEE MISS brought $750,000 from WinStar Farm Tuesday as Book 2 selling commenced at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.
Consigned by Lane's End Farm, agent, Hip No. 475 is a five-year-old daughter of Cowboy Cal and the Grade 3-placed Marquee Delivery, by Marquetry. She's a half-sister to current multiple Grade 2 star Promises Fulfilled. Offered as a racing or broodmare prospect, Marquee Miss is a five-time stakes winner and has compiled a mark of 34-6-4-3, $373,516.
Lane's End also consigned a weanling colt from the first crop of champion and Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Nyquist that sold to Larry Best's OXO Equine for $600,000. Hip 413, a Kentucky-bred foaled on April 10, is out of Holy Place, a Pulpit half-sister to champion turf mare Lady Eli, who brought $4.2 million at Keeneland on Monday, and multiple Grade 3 winner Bizzy Caroline.
At the conclusion of trading Tuesday, 223 horses changed hands for $34,942,000, a decline of 16.2 percent over the corresponding Book 1 session last year when 105 horses brought $41,692,000. The session average dropped from $397,067 to $156,691, while Tuesday's median was $125,000 compared to $285,000 a year ago.
After two days, 343 horses have sold for $91,371,000, a rise of 8.8 percent over 2017 when 201 head brought $83,996,000. The average is down to $266,388 from $417,891, while the median is down to $180,000 from $300,000.
