Median rises at Italian sale

Despite not matching the highs of Monday's opening session, Tuesday's

trade was still lively as Societa Gestione Aste (SGA) concluded its two-day

Select Yearling Sale at the Settimo Milanese complex.

Leading the way was Razza del Velino's Hip No. 158, who went the way of trainer Roberto Brogi for

€38,000. The February-foaled colt is a son of the Royal Studs' freshman sire

Motivator, whose star is ascendant following the recent victory of Pollenator in

the May Hill S. (Eng-G2) at Doncaster.

Second-highest price of the day was

achieved by Hip 168, a Tiger Hill filly, who is already named LUNA TU. Offered

by Isabella Bezzera's Razza del Sole, she was purchased by her husband Guido's

Scuderia Blueberry for €30,000. The March-foaled bay is a half to stakes winners

Zenone (Orpen) and Luna Nel Pozzo (Choisir). That price was almost matched just

under two hours later when another of Razza del Velino's offerings, Hip 217, was

knocked down to perennial champion trainer Alduino Botti, acting on behalf of

Scuderia Siba, for €28,000. The Irish-bred Verglas (Ire) colt is a grandson of

the 1992 Prix de Diane (Fr-G1) runner-up Sheba Dancer (Fr) (Fabulous Dancer).

Razza del Pian del Lago's Hip 271, a Refuse to Bend (Ire) filly, just missed

out on a podium position and went to Scuderia dell'Erica for €27,000. A half to

five winners, she is out of the dual stakes victress Carhue Lass (Common

Grounds).

With an increased book of nearly 25

percent up on last year, Tuesday's returns yielded an increased aggregate of 23

percent on last year's corresponding session. A positive upturn also boosted the

sale's overall median by a whopping 65 percent.
