Menifee filly zips one furlong in :10 at Ocala

A filly by Menifee worked an eighth of a mile in :10 on Sunday, posting the

quickest one-furlong move at the second session of the under tack preview for

the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's March 2007 Selected Two-Year-Olds in

Training Sale. Hip Nos. 261-520 took to the sales complex track, one day after

the first half of the catalog were put through their paces.

Consigned by O & H Bloodstock, agent, the February 9 chestnut is the first

foal produced from the unraced Galleon of Gold (Gone West), who is a half-sister

to multiple stakes winner Holzmeister (Woodman) and the stakes-placed Overlord (Nureyev).

The chestnut miss, who sells as Hip 470, hails from the same family as

multiple Grade 1-placed Harbour Club (Danzig).

A trio of colts shared honors for the quickest two-furlong move of the day,

stopping the teletimer in :21 1/5.

Hip 276, a colt by prominent sire Forest Wildcat, is consigned by Eisaman

Equine. The chestnut was produced from the winning Whattacapote (Capote), who

counts herself a half-sister to Grade 3 victor Here's Zealous (Dehere),

stakes winners There's Zealous (Broad Brush) and She's Zealous (Cozzene). The

January 30 foal fetched a bid of $120,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling

sale.

A dark bay colt, cataloged as Hip 335, by Tale of the Cat, also posted a :21 1/5 quarter-mile.

Consigned by Solitary Oak, Inc., agent, the March 30 foal is out of the stakes-placed Best Mate (Woodman), and hails from the same female family as six-time

Grade 1 hero Best Pal (*Habitony), a winner of $5,668,245. The unnamed Kentucky-bred was purchased for $55,000 at the Fasig-Tipton July Yearling sale.

The final youngster drilling two furlongs is by first-crop sire Wiseman's

Ferry. Selling as Hip 432 and consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, Inc., agent,

the bay colt is the fourth registered foal out of the stakes-placed Elmira Gulch

(Gulch). The Empire State-bred, February 27 offspring brought $130,000 at Fasig-Tipton

July.

The second under tack show is set for Friday and Saturday, with both sessions

beginning at 9 a.m. (EDT).
