More Than Ready filly blazes furlong in :9 4/5 at Barretts

A dark bay filly by More Than Ready blitzed the quickest furlong in :9 4/5 at

the training preview for the Barretts May Sale of Two-Year-Olds Training on

Friday. The Kentucky-bred lass is out of dual stakes winner Saratoga Humor

(Distorted Humor), who is a half-sister to the unraced stakes-producing mare

Prospect Saras Ack (Prospect Bay).

Consigned as Hip No. 104 by Jerry Bailey Sales Agency, agent, the

February-born filly has already passed through the sales ring twice, bringing

$200,000 as a Keeneland November weanling and RNAing at $260,000 as a

Fasig-Tipton August yearling.

The quickest quarter-mile of :20 4/5 was recorded by Hip 66, a bay colt by

Successful Appeal. Entered in the sale by Wolf Creek Farm, the Kentucky-bred is

out of Grade 3-placed Literary Light (Ide), who is a full sister to multiple

stakes winner and Grade 3 runner-up Junior College. This is the same family as

Grade 2 victor Powis Castle (Rare Brick) and 1997 La Troienne heroine Star of

Goshen (Lord at War [Arg]), herself the dam of multiple Grade 1 scorer and last

year's Kentucky Derby (G1) second Pioneerof the Nile (Empire Maker).

A $38,000 RNA at Fasig-Tipton July last year, the April-born colt brought

$70,000 as a Fasig-Tipton October yearling.

The Barretts May sale has 166 horses cataloged and is scheduled to begin at 5

p.m. (EDT) on Monday in the Hinds Pavilion located on the grounds of Fairplex

Park in Pomona, California.
