A field of seven has been entered in Sunday's $100,000 Nashua S. (G3) at
Aqueduct, and we're tabbing HELLO BROADWAY (Broken Vow) for the win. The
two-year-old broke his maiden first time out for Barclay Tagg,
prevailing by a hard-fought neck at Saratoga after exchanging bumps down the
stretch. In the Champagne S. (G1), the chestnut colt was bumped after the start
and never really got untracked as the top three finishers ran in a yo-yo in the
one-mile event. His half-brother, Nobiz Like Shobiz (Albert the Great), captured the 2007 Wood
Memorial (G1) over the main track at Aqueduct, and Hello Broadway will look to
earn his first stakes win on the same surface Sunday
With century-topping BRIS E2 Pace ratings, Hello Broadway owns plenty of
speed, but he'll likely be stalking the pace under Eibar Coa. He's earned excellent BRIS Speed numbers (98 for his maiden win) and looks primed for a top
showing.
There's plenty of speed in the line-up, and TIRE KICKER (More Than Ready)
will attempt to pick up the pieces. Listed at 15-1 on the morning line, the Mark
Hennig trainee will pick up the services of Ramon Dominguez for his dirt debut.
He captured his career bow on the turf at Belmont Park last out, rallying
strongly to win going away by 2 1/4 lengths, and the bay colt is eligible to
handle the main track in similar fashion. The one-mile distance is a good fit,
and Tire Kicker is an upset threat from off the pace.
ROYAL VINDICATION (Vindication) will enter on the upswing for Stanley Hough,
easily breaking his maiden before capturing the six-furlong Trapp Mountain S.
last out. He's earned good Speed figures for those efforts, and the added
distance doesn't worry us with his pedigree. Royal Vindication looks like a live
player from just off the pace, but we'll try to beat him for the win at short
odds.
FRIESAN FIRE (A.P. Indy) rallied late for third when making his stakes debut
in the Futurity (G2) last out, and the Larry Jones-trained colt is eligible to
keep showing more. He registered a 98 Late Pace rating last time, and we expect
to see him running late under John Velazquez on Sunday. PRINCE CHARMING
(Vindication) broke his maiden over a sloppy track last time and will have to
make his first start against winners from the rail. We respect trainer Jimmy
Jerkens, but we'll just watch on this occasion.
FORTY THIEVES (Read the Footnotes) will show speed from the outside, but
he'll probably face some pressure and might not be ready for the stretch-out to
eight furlongs yet. BREAK WATER EDISON (Lemon Drop Kid) won his first start in
good fashion and finished second in the Saratoga Special (G2) in his next
outing, but he appears to have gone off form since then. We'll let him turn
things around without us.
